minimalism on the streets!****************

“Anyone can make a monochrome. Most of us probably have made one at some time or another, although we wouldn’t necessarily have recognised it. And we wouldn’t necessarily need to have made one, as most of the time we are already surrounded by ready-made monochromes of various shapes and sizes. The world is full of unintended, sometimes accidental, often temporary, and mostly unnoticed monochromes…Every city is a museum of the inadvertent monochrome”
David Batchelor, In bed with the monochrome.
From an Aesthetic point of view, Philosophy, Art and the Senses.
Edited by Peter Osborne. Serpent’s Tail, 2000

Send me a photo of found, ready-made monochrome from your city, town or village, along with details or where and when you found it plus any miscellaneous details you think are interesting. It could be an unused, painted over or papered over billboard or sign, side of a truck, fence round a construction site, side of a building, anything, any colour. The only rule is that you can’t have made it yourself.

project summary* I LOVE MY CITY:urban identites

We all have a personal identity with the city in which we live in or near too, weather its a favourite building, street or landmark, personal or unique experience, memory or event, or it's just that we have a love of where we grew up and each individual as their own social history with their home city.

To investigate this further I am calling for people to send me a personal visual representation of their home city in any medium through the postal system.
This could include:
**Photography
Text
Drawing
Poetry
Crafts
Painting
Doodle
Postcards
Printmaking
Found object
Collage
Notes
List of words
Weblink
.....anything goes. ..... no size restriction at present.

Guys I'm looking for the sheet music to "Gloomy Sunday" or otherwise known as the "Hungarian Suicide Song". I've been looking for it for ages and I just can't find it anywhere!

Can anyone help?

Well, finally did all those wedding photos and sent off the link to various family members. My brother W in London was especially thankful that I did it, so I guess it was worth the time and effort!

At the moment I'm still filling icon requests from a few weeks ago. I have a Narnia set almost ready to go, and then I'll be doing a few Scrubs and then onto my personal fave fandom: Firefly/Serenity!

Ok, so I'm a bad niece/daughter/cousin and still haven't uploaded the wedding photos. *sigh*
Excuse? I have a job. And also, making icons is a much, much better use of my time... ;)

But really all I want to do is sit around and watch "Horatio Hornblower" and "Firefly," and take the dogs for a walk. Life isn't fair!

But here is what I have to do.

- Study for biology test Monday
- Study for physics test Wednesday (anyone out there understand tension?)
- Do Sedimentology lab (means I have to figure out how, first)
- Write up 2 ecology labs, and rewrite old ones*
- Write up bio lab
- Write up physics lab
- Make motel reservations for, holy crap, weekend after next (going to see the LOTR Exhibit yaaay!)
- Go shopping (I'm very short on pilates-appropriate pants)

*I should mention that my ecology teacher is CRAZY. For our first two lab write-ups she let us turn it in and then correct it before our final grade. I have now gotten it back with corrections written all over it for the THIRD TIME. Pardon me if I didn't use the EXACT WORDING that you wanted. Also note that there is no such thing as a "tree sapling": all saplings are baby trees.

She's very nice, just foreign and crazy.:D

Ok, so I have done 1 1/2 things on last week's list: I sent my tax return tonight, and I've almost made a set of NCIS icons.

The Europe photos are going to have to wait, becaues I've promised approximately 11,000 cousins and Aunties I would upload my cousin's wedding photos from the weekend asap... *sigh*

This week's goal: put up wedding photos for demanding family!

- Get rock hammer and acid bottles for sedimentology lab
- Catch up on physics homework & prepare for test on Wednesday
- Write up lab report for ecology
- Start learning the five million technical terms needed for sedimentology
- Read selected passages from the Silmarillion for shippeyclass
- Not have a total nervous breakdown before Friday.

Eep.

Let's review the list, shall we?

packing
finish setting up my shiny new computer
finish the shiny box I started for my BPAL
finish the bodice I started making a month ago
post the fic I wrote this week during work
work on some of the jewelry designs I came up with while at work

Huh. Not too bad.

This week, aside from getting back into classes without getting my soul eaten by anything, I'm going to try to work on some jewelry stuff -- photograph and post some more, make a bit more.
